Alex started her journey in translational medicine through her graduate thesis project on blood-brain barrier permeabilization for the chemotherapeutic treatment of glioblastoma. After receiving her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biosciences in Würzburg, Germany, she continued her path in Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering as a research technician at Johns Hopkins University. Here, she generated iPSC-derived brain organoids for neurodevelopmental toxicity testing of environmental exposures. Her research experience includes drug delivery enhancement in vivo and in vitro, as well as the establishment of stem cell-derived and ex-vivo tissue models.
Outside of lab, Alex likes to spend as much of her free time as possible outdoors hiking or traveling the world.
