Adele Moatti

  • Assistant Professor

Adele Moatti received her Ph.D. in Materials Engineering under the mentorship of Dr. Jagdish Narayan at NC State University. Her doctoral research focused on optimizing the performance of innovative thin films and nanoengineered materials with healthcare applications. Following her Ph.D., she transitioned to the Joint Biomedical Engineering program at NC State University and UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, as a postdoc guided by Dr. Frances Ligler and Dr. Alon Greenbaum.

During her postdoctoral research, Adele expanded her expertise in biology and large animal physiology. Her research emphasized advanced 3D imaging techniques, utilizing a custom light-sheet microscope and machine learning to analyze images of large animal tissues.

Adele received the K99/R00 award from NIH-NIDCD for her work on drug delivery to the inner ear using extracellular vesicles in pigs, a clinically relevant animal model.

Outside of lab, Adele enjoys yoga, cycling, painting, backcountry camping, ultralight backpacking, and gardening.
